About Volunteer Centre

Volunteer Centre Forest of Dean is a service of Forest Voluntary Action Forum and is a member and an accredited Centre with Volunteering England, the national body responsible for volunteering issues throughout the country.  We hold Volunteering England’s Quality Mark, having satisfied their quality accreditation criteria.

The Centre’s main activities are as follows:

A volunteering brokerage service

We offer potential volunteers support and guidance on finding the right volunteering opportunity for them.  We work with organisations which involve volunteers to establish a wide range of volunteering opportunities.

Marketing volunteering

We promote volunteering and aim to stimulate interest in voluntary work to all sections of the community through a range of publicity activities.

Good practice development

We aim to encourage organisations to adopt good practice in their dealings with their volunteers.

Developing volunteering opportunities

We aim to hold a wide range of opportunities and work closely with organisations to create new roles for volunteers wishing to use specific skills.

Comment and campaigning

We aim to keep up to date with developments around volunteering and volunteers, contributing to any debate where the issues are relevant to us.

Strategic development

We aim to develop volunteering by feeding into local, regional and national volunteering development bodies and by being aware of developments in the sector
